The course, after explained the basic principles, tackles topics related to the use of underground water resources through water barriers such as wells and springs. Then methods of evaluation and estimation of the main hydrogeological parameters are described with pumping tests and related methods of interpretation.

The course consists of lectures and seminars conducted in collaboration with, and finally there is a group work (5-6 students groups), as integral part of the final exam, aimed at drawing up a prevention risk plan at the municipal level interventions.

Course program
The course, after explained the basic principles, tackles topics related to the use of underground water resources through water barriers such as wells and springs. Then methods of evaluation and estimation of the main hydrogeological parameters are described with pumping tests and related methods of interpretation. Models of flow and transport in porous media are also proposed. Methods and contents related to basin design and planning are discussed, with particular attention to the hydrogeological and technical-operational aspects through which are planned and programmed actions and rules aimed at the preservation, defense and exploitation of the soil and the correct use of water. Finally it was treated planning and emergency management at the municipal level by introducing the concept of the civil protection service and illustrating the methods, tools and emergency planning goals.
